The job description outlines that the selected candidates will be responsible for building and guiding a diverse team of engineers, designers, and experts. This team will collaborate with leading researchers to develop AR technologies aimed at reaching billions of users worldwide. The new team will be situated in Redmond, Washington, focusing on various aspects of AR, including machine perception, optics, display technology, human perception, feedback systems, audio, user interface design, mobile computing, and more.
Candidates for this role are expected to hold a bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, along with a minimum of five years of experience in hardware management. These requirements suggest that Oculus is gearing up to establish a dedicated hardware platform for AR, distinct from its VR offerings.
Oculus has previously shared a long-term product roadmap that hints at a lightweight AR device comparable to sunglasses.
